ChicaLogic Password Manager Software ~ Review and Giveaway ~

If you don't know me in real life you may not know that I worked in IT for almost 10 years.  Many of those years were spent specifically focused on Information Security.  As such I am a little, um, picky about my software.  I also LOVE to support women in technology.  When I was approached to review the ChicaLogic Password Manager software, I was hesitant, because I already have a password management software that I love, trust, and have used for many years.  But my desire to support women in technology won out.

Password management software is essential to help keep your identity protected online.  You should never reuse password across sites and you should always use strong, hard to guess passwords.  Many people break both of the rules on a regular basis because it is just too hard to remember so many and such complex passwords.  Password Management software helps alleviate the need to remember all those passwords and enables you to have those secure and unique passwords across your digital identity, making it harder for identity thieves to target you.

The software is simple enough to install and configure.  I allows you to import any passwords you have saved from your web browsers.  It supports Internet Explorer, Apache, Chrome, and Safari among others.  Firefox, Chrome and Apache require additional plug-ins to be installed, but that is taken care of during the installation and configuration.

It also allows you to choose how you will unlock access to the passwords (none - not recommended, Password, USB Key, Bluetooth Device).  For the purpose of this review I used Password Protection.  You should be sure this is a unique and complex password and don't forget get it!

As you can see above any time you create a password through this software it will give you a strength indicator to tell you how strong the password is.  After configuration the software will give you an opportunity to import your accounts from your existing software:

It will also ask you to disable to password storage systems that are built in to the browser itself and clear the cache of those passwords.  This is for the protection of your passwords as those storage locations are not as secure.

Using the software is pretty straight forward as well.  With many types and ways to add accounts.

The software is designed to autofill forms and logins for you utilizing the information stored within its database.  You know that it is active in your browser by a pink lock in the upper right corner.  You can also use this lock to access the features of the software available from within the browser.

ChicaLogic Password Manager is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 32-bit Windows 7 (Though it ran fine on my 64-bit system, it did not work with the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer.) I tested the software with the 32-bit version of IE on that ships with my 64 bit Windows 7 system.

Once you own the software, however, all updates are free, so as these incompatibilities are worked out, you will not have to buy a new version!  This password management software allows you to easily have unique and secure for each of your online accounts with out the need to remember hundreds of passwords.  Something that is essential in today's online world.

Try it yourself:  They offer a 30-day free trial or you can buy the full version for $29.95

Win it: Chica Logic has graciously offered THREE of my readers a full version of their Password Management Software!
