I first read Thoughtless (and its sequel Effortless) by S.C. Stevens back in July.  Since then I have been patiently but eagerly awaiting the sequel (which has been titled Reckless).  I was recently given the opportunity to review Thoughtless, one of my favorite books, for my blog.  Though it was  originally published in 2009, it has recently been sold to a new publisher and has been re-released.

Thoughtless is a well written romance novel (and trust me that is a not always the case) that follows the lives of Denny, Kiera, and Kellan.  Don't worry this is a straight romance, no "kink" thrown in just for the sake of it.  It is written from the first person view of Kiera and starts as she and her boyfriend of 2 years, Denny, make a major life change and move from their home of Ohio to Seattle as Denny takes a new job and Kiera transfers to University of Washington to follow her man.  To save money they rent a room from Denny's high school friend Kellan, who happens to the the lead singer of a local Rock band the D-Bags.

Shortly after arriving in Seattle, Denny is offered a short-term position out of town and takes it without consulting Keira.  This is the first struggle that the young couple must face.  As the book progresses you follow the choices that Kiera makes and, while you want to strangle her or hate her, you find yourself pulling for her to make the right decisions.. but you often question what is the right decision.  All three main characters are sympathetically portrayed by Stephens with strengths and flaws present in the real world.
