Here is how it works:
Over in a Flash ~ Cover Hunt & Theme Challenge ~
Duration: September 1st through September 30th.
Rules: Read 2 books with the following items found on their covers; choose 2 of the 3 options below. Be sure to post your book covers, dates read, and star ratings. If you want, you can do this at the end of the month after you reviewed your covers. Feel free to do all three if you want.
COLOR: Gold, Orange, or Rust (in recognition of the first day of Fall)
HOLIDAY: (1) Labor Day and Commemoration of September 11th – I am combining these two to recognize and honor first responders, and those workers who dedicate their lives to helping others in disasters and catastrophes. Read a book that features a fire fighter, law enforcement officer, paramedic, emergency room worker, such as a nurse or doctor, member of the Coast Guard or mountain rescue squad, or any person connected with some sort of disaster relief efforts; (2) The Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – read a book that has a Jewish hero, heroine, or major secondary character; (3) Titanic – the wreck of the Titanic was discovered off the coast of Newfoundland on September 1, 1985, and 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Read a book that features a character with a connection to the Titanic, such as someone who was on it, or survived the sinking, for example. Or a book where the Titanic figures somewhere in the plot or title. Addendum: Gerrie has expanded this to include books with stories set in some aspect of sailing - a cruise, an ocean liner, a yacht or sailboat, and characters who sail in some capacity - passenger, crew, etc. Even pirates.
ITEM: Sapphire (September birthstone); Morning Glory (September flower); Virgin (astrological sign) or the Scales (astrological sign); nine; ambulance; large cruise ship or ocean liner; police cruiser; hospital or emergency room; rescue helicopter; Autumn foliage; large or harvest moon; hay ride; people harvesting crops; fruit pie; blueberries (September fruit).
